As we move forward during this unprecedented time, we’re all looking for ways to stay connected and continue to provide services; so with that, I’m excited to offer Bob Korn Imaging and The Gallery UPSTAIRS online.

Our plan is to hold a Workshop series on Tuesdays from 1-2:30pm ET and events on Thursdays, 4-6pm ET. As we schedule the Workshops and events, I’ll be posting Zoom links on our Facebook, Instagram, and website News pages.

We’ll begin to introduce our online events with an introduction to the Workshop series on Tuesday, April 28th, 1-2:30pm EST.

Our first Gallery Talk, Creation: The Composited Image, with Fran Forman and Ann George, will be Thursday, April 30th, 4-6pm ET. Fran and Ann will share their creative processes, which are steeped in poetry, nostalgia, whimsy, and mystery by incorporating analog techniques within the digital process.

David Burnett will join us on Thursday, May 7th, 4-6pm ET to talk about his career and share the stories behind the images from his show at The Gallery UPSTAIRS, David Burnett: Through His Lens.

The Zoom links for these events and the introductory Workshop are below.  Remember to check our Facebook, Instagram, and website News pages for all future events.

I hope you’ll take advantage of this new way of working together and I look forward to seeing and talking with you online.  If you have any questions about these events or the Workshop, please reach out.  Be well and safe.

If you are feeling stuck with your current project or are just starting to create photographs and are unsure what to do next, you should join us at our next salon. Our salon takes place on the third Thursday of every month from 6-8 pm, and it is a great place to work through ideas. It is an extremely relaxed environment that is open to artists of all skill level.

The goal of the salon is to help get you inspired! In a small group setting, local photographers offer advice, opinions, and some constructive criticism for each other’s work. We tend to think of our own photos in one way since we are so personally involved in them. However, hearing how other artists are viewing your work can help you take a step back and think about it in a new way.

By viewing each other’s working prints, we also get into the practical side of things, such as giving tips for improving your prints. If you don’t have access to your own printer or are new to printing, you can utilize our new service, the mini lab print, to show your images to the group as 4×5 or 3×4 prints. The mini print is a great way to see how your images exist as a print, and get ideas for editing and organizing.

The salon sessions aren’t always entirely about looking at photographs — we also like to fit in discussions about photography. Sometimes, we discuss the difficult process of pricing our work and share our experiences with selling our photographs. Other times, we discuss more abstract concepts such as the role of intent in photography. The salon can also be a good place to talk about shows that are going on around the Cape. Sometimes, we even look at photo books in order to share our inspirations and introduce new artists to one another. The salon has a loose structure that can easily be molded in any way the group feels necessary that month. So if this sounds like something that interests you, our next salon will take place on March 19th and we would love to see you there.

Our February News Letter has been sent out with updates for The Gallery UPSTAIRS and new workshops at Bob Korn Imaging.  You’ll also find the link to my talk about the Print, which I gave at the B&H Event Space. If you haven’t signed up to receive our news letter, just send your request through the Contact Page.

Opening on Saturday, January 25th, 3-6 pm, our first show of the year is the newly expanded Cape Collection Portfolio.  We added to the portfolio with more work showing the uniqueness of Cape Cod and the Islands.  Hope to see you at the Opening.

I’m excited to offer the Mini Lab Print.  This new print is a way to help get your images off your screen and onto paper.  You have the option of fifteen 4×5 or twenty eight 3×4 prints printed on 17 x 22 inch paper.  Being able to work with your images as prints gives you options on how to edit, organize, and just look at them in a way that’s not possible on screen.  The cost for the Mini Lab Print is $20.

This Saturday, the 19th, 4-7, is the opening for “FORGOTTEN; A Photographic Essay of American Asylums. These images by Justin Garvin, Mike Collington, and Justin Oliver capture a beauty not normally associated with these institutions of the past.
